Pilgrimage in the Seidlwinkltal of Rauris Through the valley of pilgrims and sumpters
Every year on the Feast of St. Peter & Paul (28 June), thousands of pilgrims make the journey from Seidlwinkltal in Rauris, SalzburgerLand, over the Grossglockner High-Alpine Road to Heiligenblut in Carinthia.
The Pinzgauer Pilgrimage is Salzburg’s biggest and can be traced all the way back to the 15th century. According to tradition, the pilgrimage has its roots in a vow made at the end of the Middle Ages, at a time when the pilgrims sought protection from the plague and wolves. Today, thousands of pilgrims take part in this pilgrimage from Seidlwinkltal or Fusch an der Glocknerstrasse to Heiligenblut.
* This year the Pinzgauer Pilgrimage will not take place! *
